Even though their music mightn’t be a patch on their glory period in most fans eyes Queensryche have consistently been in the metal news in the last couple of years. The saying goes that there is no such thing as bad publicity, well this band tested that theory with the very public spat and spit break up.
What it most certainly provided was topics for discussion and anyone who listens to the show knows that the band(s?) have been talked about at length. So Geoff Tate is out doing his “farewell” tour (yawn). The set list is interesting:
It’s more varied then I thought with Breakdown from Q2K, Real World and I Am I from Promised Land and Della Brown from Empire being part of the set. I suppose he wanted to drop most of Operation:Mindcrime as the band are going out again (yawn) under that name and will shove that album down your throat in it’s entirety ad nauseum.
No tracks from Rage For Order and The Warning either suggests he has no time for those albums, the other guys are covering those so he’d rather leave them alone or most likely he just can’t do them justice anymore.
Here’s what REALLY sticks out for me. Nothing from Tribe, Mindcrime 2, American Soldier or Dedicated To Chaos. Those were taunted as his albums. His stories. His creations. Nothing. It’s like 2000 to 2011 was a dream. Or he now thinks the music was crap.
So farewell Queensryche featuring Geoff Tate. I used to love this band and they were so damn good. Why did it all have to come to this.
Richie.
