Can someone explain to me the adulation Metal Church seem to have. To me they were never thrashy enough to be a straight up thrash metal band and too thrashy to be a straight up power metal band. That’s not to say I don’t like them, I just don’t love them. The Human Factor and A Light In The Dark are great. I’m not a fan of The Dark and David Wayne and Blessing In Disguise is terribly produced, surprising since it’s Terry Date and Elektra.
Numerous line up changes didn’t help and it just seemed odd that Kurt Vanderhoff did a bulk of the songwriting when he wasn’t in the band anymore. When people talk about expanding the Big 4 you never hear these guys mentioned. So where do they fit in? Maybe file under the unlucky category. The Ronny Munroe line-up recently reunited for some shows, after calling it a day a couple of years ago maybe those cruises are the only way to see them from now on. Maybe they do weddings.
